THROTTLE SHAFT AND PLATE KIT 4 pcs NI

TECH NOTE: Vacuum Leaks. If you have an engine with the exhaust and intake on the same side of the engine you do NOT spray carb cleaner or anything else around "looking" for vacuum leaks. (I don't think I'd spray that stuff ANYWHERE no matter where the exhaust is) People recommend that I guess because it has "always" worked for them and they haven't seen the other side of the coin; which is easy to visualize. Take a little bit of 30 wt oil or better yet 90 wt and put a temp seal around gasket areas on the INTAKE manifold and carbs. It doesn't take much. The oil will act as an "improved" gasket and the leak if present will "go away" for a bit; without the danger of burning the car up or worse. The BEST solution is of course to beg borrow or just buy a vacuum gauge and learn how to use it. A leak that will cause idle problems will be immediately noticed on the gauge; at least if it is a MANIFOLD leak. If it is worn carb shafts/bushings causing the problem then you are back to the little-bit-of-90wt around the throttle shaft ends to see if it suddenly improves.

All though it is normal for the shafts to pivot; you shouldn't be able to lift them STRAIGHT UP and DOWN. Running down the road worn shafts/bushings doesn't matter so much; but at idle more air may be coming in the sides than is going through the main air intake; which makes adjusting the idle next to impossible.
