As
so many cars suffer from, this 1500 never had it's rear end
oil changed and was moisture contaminated. Ring gear has
corrosion mainly on that part of the gear that was "down" in
the case. Corrosion on pinion seems to scrape off with a
normal surface underneath. I would suggest cleaning it up as
well as possible with a small "dremel" tool so sharp edges
are removed. Gear teeth aren't anywhere near as sharp (worn)
as some we see, so that's a plus.
