We have a fluctuating supply of used manuals. The original manuals on the left, along with the emission control and later brake master cylinder manual were combined into one manual by various aftermarket book publishers. They were reprinted using a press, so the photo quality is roughly comparable to the originals. If you bought a new Datsun 2000 in 1967 you would have had to buy both the manuals on the left as only the 1600 manual has the brakes and suspension etc sections. You will find the Nissan manuals (or the reprints) to be horribly inadequate if you have had the good fortune to see a manual for a newer car. Some of the translation errors are hilarious, or would be if you weren't lying on your back trying to get your car back together and trying to make sense of it all. (please email and we will translate...)

My favorites are the section describing removing the starter...with the engine OUT OF THE CAR!!! Or how about "Installation is Reversal of Removal Steps". Anyone who's ever picked up a wrench knows that installing a part is NEVER just the same as reversing the steps! To make your task truly impossible, pictures of the 1600 carbs are reused in the 2000 section (they're different). There's lots of information, much of it useless unless you actually plan on rebuilding your alternator YOURSELF, etc.

Unfortunately that's all there ever was. These manuals, coupled with the most screwed up parts book I have ever seen, enlightened me as to why so many dealers bailed out of working on these cars or dealing with parts for them so soon. As early as 1974 many of the local dealers in the Seattle area were reluctant or just refused to touch them. Once I made the rounds and they found out we had a roadster shop; roadsters started arriving at our garage, wow did they start arriving! I was just a backyard hobbyist then, who had done the same thing in San Diego in a much smaller way for a couple of years. Geez, that was 32 years ago, I wonder if I'll ever have a "real" job again?

Some of the older manuals also came in a version that had a green plastic cover with the loose pages bound inside by 3 posts. We consider them the same part number as the later version that had the paper covers.

WHAT'S AVAILABLE...
Supply changes constantly, most of the used manuals we get typically are a bit wrinkled, dirty or just plain beaten up. We consider a "good" manual to be one that still has it's share of enthusiastically placed dirty fingerprints, but is totally intact and readable, no time spent in a wet trunk etc. An "ugly" one is in worse shape, may be missing a cover, or be dirtier than usual, or be water damaged, but not to the point that each page isn't turnable and readable. "Nice" ones are of course extremely rare, those that only almost clean hands touched. PLEASE EMAIL WITH THE PART NUMBERS OF THE MANUAL(S) YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AND WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE BOOKS DON'T STICK AROUND VERY LONG.

When ordering be sure to let us know if you want to go UP or DOWN in condition if necessary for us to be able to ship something.
