HEATSHIELD,
2000 SU CARB, #DU14-12
Hard
to find these heatshields in any condition. Many have
fractured around the mounting holes. This one doesn't
appear to have that problem; at least yet. The bigger
problem is the slow failure of the throttle spring hook
points. They all wear from the spring force and rust and
fracture. If these were greased now and
then...
Although
most people don't bother; they should be reinforced
and/or repaired BEFORE they show signs of wear. On this
heatshield it would be required immediately. It takes a
patient and skilled craftsman to do this as the metal is
so light. Because these can lead to such catastrophic
results when they fail; we do not sell these without you
first printing and mailing back our totally frightening
release of liability form. Please email for info. If you
are not able to print it; you can mail in a
self-addressed stamped envelope with two stamps on it and
we can mail one to you. Be sure to include your full name
and address, phone and VIN of car.
In the
old days we just sold these with an explanation of the
problem. Life is not as simple as it once
was...
