We try to keep this part new and used. Something interesting we've noticed is that almost all of the "new" shift plates we have received have chipped paint around the 3 holes, like they have been installed. The paint is great everywhere else, except around the 3 holes. In our biggest shipment of sheetmetal from overseas, in the late 70s, we received a bunch of rear center panels (between the taililghts). Attached to some of the panels was the complete trunk floor. Some of the front door posts were attached to a complete cowl assy. The only part number visible was the one on the door post, so I guess they assumed the four foot wide part was the door post! I have always wondered if when production stopped various parts were still in various stages of production and then pulled apart. |
