In
1965 Nissan changed their dash construction from vinyl over
fiberglass to a padded dash. Most likely this was due to
current or impending safety requirements. This reproduction
takes a simpler approach and goes back to the pre-65 style
construction. Unlike the safety dashes of the 60s that
seemed to crack early on, this dash can be recovered someday
if necessary. An although we like the idea behind the padded
dash, if you really want any chance at protecting yourself
in a roadster, shoulder harnesses are the way to increase
your safety. The mounting hole for the mirror is not precut,
so you can use this dash on any 65-67 1/2. The holes are
marked only on the underside so if you are using a
stick-on-the-windshield mirror your dash will look great
without a mirror. The holes for the tonneau cover "twisty's"
are marked on the underside as well so again you have a
choice to make the holes or not.
