SLEEVE, CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING

5-spd #305-12
A number of parts are different between the 4spds and the 5spds. It doesn't matter whether it is a 1600 or 2000; you go by the transmission for parts. You can use either transmission if you use all the matching parts. Differences include:
  • Clutch Bearing Sleeve
  • Rear Engine Drive Plate (spacer)
  • Clutch Bearing Fork
  • Clutch Fork Pivot Pin
  • Driveshaft
  • Rear Frame Crossmember
  • Speedo Cable
  • Rear Transmission Mount
  • Position of hole for shifter in floor
  • Shift Plate (trim on floor)

The 67.5 cars have the hole for the shifter cut large enough to use either transmission without modification. The 65-67 cars were not designed with the 5-spd in mind and have a different design crossmember. The problem can be dealt with; but not as easily.
