Originally
the spacer between the waterpump and the engine block was a
lightweight casting. These almost always cracked before the
freeze plugs did if antifreeze was absent in cold weather.
They also have suffered from attempts at removal. If the
studs aren't coated with grease or antiseize, owners and
mechanics try to pry on them to get them off, usually
destroying the spacer. The replacements are usually machined
pieces, not castings, in a number of configurations. Two of
the types are shown above. Whichever we have at the time is
what we will ship. Availability of this part
fluctuates.
