The
original fuel pumps had a much thinner mounting flange which
would sometimes break. (about half the thickness of the
pictured pump) If your car still has the thin flange type
pump, you may need to replace the studs in the block with
some longer ones. All 1500 and 1600 engines below R-40000
have SAE threads, in this case 5/16 coarse. Later 1600
engines use 8mm x 1.25 thread studs. You can also use bolts,
although studs are a better way to go. Sometimes we get the
thinner flanged pumps, but not always.
