There is a more economical oil pump alternative. We have a different version of the same quality Nissan oil pump. It is identical except the lower plate and pickup tube are different. (The pickup tube runs from the pump to the pickup screen). You can simply use your old pickup tube and lower plate IF the interior surface of your plate is COMPLETELY smooth. If it has the typical wear marks, you should have the plate surfaced by a competent machine shop capable of putting a nice finish on it. Clearance between the gear and the cover is critical and should be .0016-.0043". Gear gouges can increase that. Having the plate resurfaced if necessary brings the clearance back in line over its entire surface. You end up with a pump with all new moving parts.
