WE HAVE LEFT THIS UP FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSES ALTERNATOR SHIELD, #140-53 68-70 2000 This part was designed to deflect heat away from the alternator that was mounted below the exhaust manifold. Some of the original manifolds came with a nut welded to the manifold to bolt this to; in addition to it being mounted to two of the manifold to head studs. Later manifolds did not have this welded nut; either for cost purposes or maybe because having the shield bolted to the hottest part of the manifold kind of defeated its purpose; allowing MORE heat to move into the shield then it was attempting to deflect! |
