ROCKER ARM STAND, METRIC, REAR
This
part number is for a METRIC rocker arm stand for the
Metric 1600 heads; which have 10mm studs. It could be
used on an SAE head if the stand is drilled out. An
SAE stand could bolt on a metric head but they have
much larger stud holes in them. The risk with that is
if the rear stand is improperly located or shifts the
oil hole to lube the rocker arms and shaft could be
partially or totally blocked because of the metric
stud's smaller size. These are rear stands which
differ only in that they have an oil passageway for
the rockers. People not putting at least one rear
stand at the rear position has been a problem over the
years as the engine then starves the rocker assy. I've
seen some actually begin SQUEAKING. Sometimes they
will leave out the rocker shaft locator stud (which
keeps rocker shaft from turning). This causes undue
wear and the locator plug also serves as an oil
gallery plug. With the plug absent the engine and
especially the rocker arm assy looses a tremendous
amount of oil pressure as the flow is erupting out the
back tower instead of traveling down the rocker
shaft.
