An Alternative Part... This is a thermostat housing for some non roadster R16 engines that use the "2-hole type" cylinder head. All USA 1600's from engine #R-10606 originally had the 2-hole head. (Earlier heads had 3 holes for the thermostat housing) To use this you have to have a filler neck put on your radiator (or use a 2000 radiator which already has one). This will enable you to fill the radiator easier, and also avoid the ugly ritual of trying to get that tall thermostat housing to come off of the studs now and then for thermostat changing. The 2000 radiator is slightly larger in capacity as well. If you want to stay more original looking , you can have a filler made on the radiator using #B14-01 top plate and use the stock #214-03 cap on it. |
