LARGE
ITEMS
If
the shipment contains a hood, fender or other large object
and is going overseas there is a $38 charge for each box.
One or two fenders can go in one box. A hood takes its own
box. Packing charge can vary but generally is $54 per box.
Orders containing any large size item(s) may easily be
delayed 3-4 weeks. We try to ship as economically as
possible, and it takes time to do these. This type of order
is packed as time is available. On some orders for instance,
we expend a great deal of time custom making a box to save
you the extreme cost of motor freight or airline shipment.
If you are in a hurry for a fender or other large object
you're going to be disapponted unless we have some
exceptionally slow days. Large overseas shipments usually go
by sea shipment unless you have somebody lined up to handle
shipment by air. Since 9-11 it has become increasingly
difficult to ship large boxes by air. It can also be costly
beyond belief. Think thousands of dollars not hundreds as
with ocean freight.
We
have no way of knowing what the delivery charges by the
carrier will be for fenders and hoods shipped overseas. We
can provide rough box dimensions and weight to give to
freight carriers.
SMALL
ITEMS
This
would cover boxes up to about 2x2x2 feet, 1x1x5 feet etc.
Most items other than fenders, doors, engines etc fall into
this category. For items other than large parts, there are
two methods we usually use..Most
overseas shipments are shipped by UPS Air (United Parcel
Service). Some overseas shipments can go by parcel post
(Post Office). This is usually more economical, but I have
found you are trading off security, reliability and easier
loss/damage claim processing. Large overseas shipments can
also go by sea shipment. Please inquire at the time of
order.
UPS
AIR and AIR PARCEL POST are usually 4-8 days (FROM DAY
SHIPPED). SURFACE PARCEL POST is usually 4-8 weeks. We only
ship mailed items by methods that allow the shipment to be
insured. This means we don't use junk mail rates. It isn't
worth the headaches. You can save a lot by planning your
orders ahead of time as the rate per pound drops as the size
goes up. If it is going by the postal service please be
advised we only do ship via mail about once every 7-14
days.
Again,
this is just a crude guide and many factors will change
cost, including size of box, and exactly where you are
located. This does not include any local customs, taxes,
fees, duties, tariffs, which are your responsibility. Some
countries have exemptions or reduced fees for antique car
parts, you might want to investigate that possibility.
Additional costs include insurance, which is .35 via UPS per
$100, and $2.50 plus $1 per $100 via the Post
Office..
These
guessed estimates were figured for most of Europe, Japan and
Australia.
You
can see that planning your orders will save you a lot of
shipping dollars. Heavier boxes are much more economical per
pound to ship.
Depending
on the item and the order there may be a charge for the
shipping container, and may be an increased packing charge.
These charges may or may not be listed separately. We have
adopted this policy rather than tack costs on to every hard
to pack part, which isn't necessary on many shipments and
would tend to drive the overall total price up.
This
is PER BOX, not per shipment. We always try to pack and ship
in the most economical configuration, but certain orders may
require more than one box.
